Ellen – 11 Month Portraits

I know I pretty much say this every month, but it is pretty hard for me to believe that Ellen will be a year old in less than a month. She is becoming much more of a toddler than a baby. My sweet, calm, content baby is now eager to be on the move all the time and does NOT want to be stopped from her goal… whatever that is at that moment. I would be kidding myself if I said I didn’t know this day would come… the day when she would be so super active and unstoppable (not to mention strong willed). I called it when I was pregnant and Ellen was about twice as active as Claire was. Unlike Claire (who kicked constantly as a baby, even in her sleep), Ellen has been pretty chill and still. … until now! Up until today, she wouldn’t crawl on the grass, but now that she’s been on it more than a handful of times since she’s started crawling, she’s over that and ready to crawl everywhere. Of course, when I took her portraits, I was hoping she would crawl some for the camera, but no luck. Anyway… happy viewing, friends!
to start… I had Chris throw her up in the air. I love these, even though they are very similar.
then, I got out the crazy bubble machine. Unfortunately, it was pretty breezy, so the bubbles were pretty unpredictable in where they were going to go. But, I caught a few.
of course, when the wind blew the bubbles towards me, Ellen only wanted to watch them.
and then they blew straight back (not behind Ellen like it was aimed and not towards me like the wind was doing before… but straight towards the car and not in the shot at all). Ellen is into pointing now, so…
so, it wasn’t the sensation of having the grass on her legs that she didn’t like. As soon as I put her on all fours, she pushed up into this favorite position.
after a few minutes, I took her to the playground where Chris and Claire were hanging out… for some swing action. this one makes me laugh!
these next few are pretty similar, but I just love the smiles she is giving Chris.
then, we tried the bubbles one more time with Claire and daddy around to help make Ellen smile.
and this is the shot I got when a few bubbles popped right in her face. haha!
oh man, she is so beautiful!
beautiful smiles for daddy and sister.
this last one makes her look so much more like a big girl than a baby… sad… (she loves water!)

She is beautiful.
thanks, Don!
What a gift to be able to capture these sweet moments in film as you do so beautifully. These are really lovely pictures of your adorable little girl. Time goes so fast.
Debbie, Chris and I often talk about that. How blessed we are to have our children’s lives so well documented. Though I do feel bad for their future grooms at their rehearsal dinners. ha!
I can not believe she is almost one! (wish also means we have been married for almost a year) It has flown!! She is so pretty :)
I know! Happy early anniversary, Becca!
She is so stunning and getting so big!!!
Thanks Meg! Hard to believe she’s almost 1!
