Ellen – Nine Month Portraits
I know I say this every month, but I really can’t believe that Ellen is 9 months old now. She has officially existed longer on the outside of my body than inside, and for some reason that is emotional to me. I suppose it is because this is the stage (9mo+) when she is really becoming more and more independent every day. She is eating more and more foods (even finger foods!) and nursing less and less. She is very mobile for not officially crawling, though the crawling full force is probably only a week ago since we have the wobbling and moving forward some on her hands and knees. My babies have been quick to have strong necks (2 months) and quick to sit up on their own (5 months)… also quick to develop fine-motor skills like pinching and putting their pacifiers back in their mouths, but slower to crawl and walk. I am okay with that since they have never been behind in every area; quite the contrary! The pediatrician was almost shocked at Ellen’s verbal and communication skills. She already signs “all done” and says “ah dah” when she is done eating or nursing. She waves and says “buh buh da-da” when Chris gets ready to leave for work every morning, and she’s been doing that for almost a month. She tries to repeat many words we say to her. This week, she is obsessed with Claire’s Valentine’s balloon that is holding strong: “bah… lah” or “bah… ooo.” Anyway, enough mommy pride on that issue. i love that you can see how beautiful her eyes are: mostly dark blue with some spots of dark green/brown. Also, love this hat my in-laws got for her in Ireland last year when I was still pregnant with her.
Her lips are perfect.
Disclaimer: Chris was right under her in all of these pictures on the changing table. I love her room (though I REALLY need to hang up her pictures!).

we rarely use this changing spot because I can’t sit her up to get her dressed due to the closeness of the mobile. Of course, that was the inspiration for this spot for her photos.

I didn’t get a great shot of her on her knees and hands (as she doesn’t just stay still in that position). :-) But, i like this one…
she’s so gorgeous, right?
I am amazed you can’t see her lopsided smile in this one. She has two teeth on the bottom and two on the top (one middle and one side)… the third tooth is coming in on top (her other middle one).
