Thoughts on Exhaustion

Friends, I hit a wall last night. As I reverted back to “old ways” of post processing (ie. not culling the entire shoot before choosing blog images, just because I was short on time), I realized I was downright exhausted. Too bad I stayed up until 11:30pm to get yesterday’s post up on time… and too bad Claire woke up at 2am needing her fan on and then again at 6am WIDE AWAKE for the day. Also… too bad that this has kinda been my life for weeks now: staying up too late working on blog posts, crashing without any real “down time,” and then getting up too early and/or at least one time in the night for random reasons (teething, Claire being hot, etc.). Peyton – Wayne Baby Portraits

This past Saturday, I met up with Maureen and Chandler to photograph them with their newest addition to their family: Peyton! It had been a little over two years since I last photographed this sweet couple, and about two and a half years since Chris and I photographed their wedding… but honestly, the time has flown by! Maureen has been a loyal blog follower for years and years, so she knows that my favorite stage to photograph a baby is after they can sit up but before they crawl (which is somewhere between 5-8 months usually)… so, a few months ago, she gave me the heads up that she wanted spring portraits of her daughter. In between that Facebook note and this week, Maureen found herself very ill, wishing she’d already had family portraits to comfort her. Thank the Lord, she has mostly recovered from it all, and we were able to do their family portraits on a lovely spring day in Wayne. Happy viewing, friends! Read more

The Shields Family

Monday was supposed to be a scorcher. The forecast said a high of 90. If the high gets much above 80, I start to internally complain. When the high reaches 90, those internal complaints become pretty external. Fortunately, however, I don’t believe it reached 90 in our neighborhood. Even still, for the first time (that I remember anyway), I sported shorts to a portrait session because I knew I would do some running after three adorable kids, and I didn’t want to be a sweaty mess.
