I get so incredibly excited when the FedEx man shows up with a large heavy brown box with LOADS of tape all over it. It is the mark of a Leather Craftsmen album delivery! Well, this week, I have received not one but TWO of these boxes, which makes me feel like it is Christmas all over again. :-) So, I thought I would share some of the joy with all of you... Happy viewing, friends!
first off... Debbie & Alex's album. They were married a year and a half ago (note to new and prospective clients: it doesn't normally take this long- Debbie & Alex waited close to their anniversary to start the process, which was fine by me since I was busy figuring out how to be a mom and run a business for much of last year). |

I absolutely love the way Leather Craftsmen mounts their cover images. So many companies do it in such a way that it either looks cheap or the image will get damaged easily over time.

Cork lining... I am in love!

I really do love designing flush mount albums to suit each couples' tastes... want variety? sure! want simplicity? sure! :-)

And next, we have Sasha & Stephen's wedding album. This one is our more classic style, as you will see...

Black mattes with white liners. Stunning for their images!

And a last touch, I love how clearly my logo shows on the last parchment paper.

We have three more albums out to other quality binders. I will try to blog those as soon as they come in, but be prepared, friends, I have 4 shoots this week... so... craziness will ensue on the blog!

S enior season is already starting for us... at least for our reps for the Class of 2011 (never too late for the current senior class, class of 2010). Geordann has been a faithful blog follower for quite some time now, and when her mom informed me last year that Geordann had already decided I H-A-D to do her portraits whenever I came back to the Philadelphia area, I knew this was a shoot to look forward to. Once we realized we were moving, I immediately thought of Geordann and asked her to be one of our first representatives for Rae Barnes Photography (we are still looking for more from other high schools!). Anyway, I'm excited to share with you all. Happy viewing, friends!
Geordann is a dancer... this was one of the first shots I captured. I was pretty pumped. |

i love all things ballet, especially the tutus.

this was a fun little spot, too.

Geordann laughs a lot. It was a big thing to not get all laughing pics (though those are great, too- see next photo)

love this spot! fan of the bright color for sure!

seriously... how beautiful is she?!

it started out real overcast for our shoot... it ended with some warm yummy sunshine. love this!

sorry sweet purple flowers, I couldn't pass you up... I am sure you will bounce back from this one brief moment Geordann laid on you. :-)

oh, i LOVE this one... a lot!

thanks so much, you guys! I had so much fun!

M issy and John have that crazy love story that led to marriage super fast (not too unlike my own, save their extra element of being long distance for months). They were married almost a year ago in Michigan, and while I was not able to photograph or even attend their wedding, I desperately wanted our schedules to align to photograph them together.... and not just because they are a gorgeous couple, though that is an added bonus. So, when I realized they were temporarily living near where we are temporarily living, we had to go for it! So, while there is no white dress for this newlywed shoot, it is still a newlywed shoot nonetheless. Young love is so refreshing! Not that I am not still young and in love... I'm digressing... anyway, I loved photographing this sweet couple, and I was super excited when John & Missy picked this sweet location. Anyway... happy viewing, friends! |

John and Missy are pretty playful with each other. He likes to pick her up A LOT, which I am certainly okay with, especially since it is a normal thing for them.

i love this next one more and more the more I look at it. Chris saw it in the raw among all of the other thumbnails and told me to "make it pretty." He wins for this find!

Seriously, how gorgeous is this cathedral?!

another fave... i love shooting thru foliage and limbs (maybe not when the wind is blowing like it was here- and thus I didn't know what I was getting or focusing on until I did manual focus on them)...

so, we were all kind of talking, as we wrapped up the shoot, about what else they wanted to do... and I noticed they were sitting the exact same way (see far left)... I pointed it out to them, and that is the progression. Fun times.

this last one might be my favorite. seriously.

Happy Spring and Happy (almost) First Anniversary!!

M any people wonder what in the world I do when I am not out taking pictures of people... like there must be nothing else to my job. :-) I usually politely smile and say "only about 10% of my job is actually clicking a shutter button." The off-season (ie November through March) is usually FILLED with album design work. While an increasing number of my clients are purchasing classic matted albums or La-Vie Albums (which are designed by La-Vie), I still have many clients that want that flush mount style album, and I still LOVE to design them! I thought I would share a few layouts that I have worked on in the last few months. Happy viewing, friends!
I did this one today. I love that Michelle & Dan allowed me to choose the images for their initial design. Of course, they will get to swap things out, but designs go so much smoother for me when I get to choose the images first... simply because I often have visions of designs when I cull the images. This layout is a prime example. Not many brides would choose 5 portraits of just her for her album, but I love the feel of this spread! (the frills are from their invites). |

Cat & Joe are another example of a bride & groom letting me choose the initial images to use... and another example of using designs from the wedding stationery (easy to do when you have clients that are designers!).

i love this panoramic page for Debbie & Alex. They were married in the fall of 2008. Usually, we do all of our designs pretty quick after the wedding, but just a month ago, I was working on a 2006 album, a 2007 album, three 2008 albums and then five 2009 albums! It is never too late for those couples that didn't have albums in their packages!

Eloise - Newborn Portraits |

T he trip I had planned last week to North Carolina was all for my new sweet niece Eloise... and, of course, her daddy (my brother) and mommy. Sweet Eloise came into this world a few weeks later than we expected. While that was most uncomfortable for my sister-in-law, I was a bit excited that the time I would be around would be right in her perfect window for true newborn portraits (5-10 days old). Sorry, Katy, don't hate me. :-) Anyway, I am SO excited that my big brother is a dad. It is so fun to watch him with Eloise, and I look forward to watching her grow and get big enough to play with her fun cousin. But, enough babbling... on to some sweet images of a sweet baby girl (again, couldn't narrow it down real well). Happy viewing, friends!
sweet little family... |

my sister-in-law is so beautiful.

this is probably my favorite. Eloise crosses her ankles all the time... must've done it in the womb.

favorite daddy-daughter pic.

love these colors! (i really regret not getting a picture of Claire all swaddled up like a burrito).

the next two are about the same, but i love the two different tones...

Katy was laughing that the first image I got of her kissing Eloise, she looked like she did NOT like her mom's kisses. ha!

Congrats David & Katy! I love you three so much!
