Kaleen and Jack - Engaged! |

B eing "sick" has really set me back, hence why I am blogging/working on a Sunday... Anyway, we are getting the sickness under control after I nearly lost my voice last night at the wedding we shot; I went to the doctor only to find out it is just a bad case of allergies (I didn't know they could be worse than sneezing and water eyes like the Claritin commercials).
Enough about me, let's move onto the post... ;-) Kaleen & Jack! They've been engaged for about a year and a half, I've been booked for their wedding for many months, and we are about 10.5 months away from their big day. So, it is the perfect time for their engagement pics! The clouds looked pretty daunting in Lake Placid last Monday, but fortunately, it did not rain until we were done. Kaleen is Jenelle's cousin, so obviously, I had some good looks to work with. ;-) Happy viewing!
I'm starting with my favorite, I think. Love this!
Although, this may be tied. Really love this one, too.
A few years ago, I did an engagement session here; some of you VERY loyal blog stalkers may remember a shot similar to this. I love birch trees.
Swings are my favorite item on the playground... glad my clients enjoy them, too!
Too cute.
Okay, I really love this one, too. These huge windows look into an antique shop, and I just love that you can see some things inside. Also, love the colors and Kaleen & Jack's cuteness factor. ha!
Tomorrow, I will have a preview from Kristin's senior session last Friday. I had originally had 4 shoots on the schedule last week... one ended up having a scheduling conflict and one I actually had to "call in sick" for (can't remember ever doing that). So, we ended up with only two and a wedding. :-)

T o those of you not on facebook and thus not getting my daily updates, I am sick. Not pregnancy sick. Just sick. I took a sick day yesterday (which happens only about once a year) in hopes that I would be all better today, but sadly, I am still struggling. And instead of going to the studio to do the million things I need to do, I am taking another sick day in order to make sure I am as well as can be for the wedding tomorrow!
So, since I can't post pictures from the engagement session I did on Monday, I am borrowing this blog post idea from numerous other photographers, namely Jasmine Star. Thanks for your continued patience!
I AM ⦠my biggest critic but also probably one of my top 40 fans.
I WANT⦠a happy and healthy baby.
I HAVE ⦠an unquenchable desire to capture images of my clients that I wished I had of myself.
I KEEP ⦠winning the game SET, so no one will play me anymore.
I WISH I COULD ⦠make my dog bark only once when he feels the need to bark at the neighbors' pets.
I HATE ⦠arrogance.
I FEAR ⦠mediocrity and complacency.
I HEAR ⦠the loons' song from the lake sometimes at night.
I DONâT THINK ⦠I will ever get over how cute my husband is when he laughs really hard.
I REGRET ⦠stressing myself out over things that are out of my control.
I LOVE ⦠being on or near the water, but not being IN the water.
I AM NOT ⦠one to complain (other than maybe privately to my husband or my mom).
I DANCE ⦠in my living room like I wish I were a ballerina.
I SING ⦠my heart out at church, and the baby starts dancing!
I NEVER ⦠have loved another like I love my husband.
I RARELY ⦠will turn down chocolate.
I CRY WHEN I WATCH ⦠The Notebook. EVERY TIME!
I AM NOT ALWAYS ⦠good at biting my tongue or holding honest words back.
I HATE THAT ⦠I don't feel well when there are a million things to be done at work!
IâM CONFUSED ABOUT ⦠the complete obsession with celebrities (like paying millions for a baby's picture!!).
I NEED ⦠at least 3 good hugs a day, which is getting trickier with the baby belly growing.
I SHOULD ⦠take a nap now to get all better.
Thanks again for your patience! |

Becky and Matt - Bay Pond |

B ecky and Matt are married!! I just had to start my post that way because there was so much excitement surrounding the entire day on Saturday. There was an undeniable pure love and joy in every moment that I could hardly fight back tears myself (of course, being pregnant doesn't exactly help THAT). I think you will all feel it just looking at these images... I didn't even get a chance to browse through the reception images because there were so many ones I loved so much from the getting ready stage, the ceremony and then the time alone with the bride and groom. Becky and Matt both have such sweet spirits; they could not have been more pleasant to work with. And, the whole day was pulled off beautifully by Mim Frantz of Juniper Events. So, happy viewing!
The groom's idea of "getting ready."
Becky's dress was perfect for her! Check out the details on the bottom of the dress.
I loved all the old things around Becky's parents' home. This shot was taken on an old suitcase.
The bride getting ready with some old friends.
I had to step back to get this shot of three generations... with grandmother on the ground and mother and sister fastening the buttons.
Becky's veil was worn by her grandmother's great grandmother... as well as every woman in between now and then. It was in PERFECT condition- absolutely beautiful and timeless. ...And, I was nervous all afternoon (until she switched veils) that it was going to snag.
I managed to catch this moment between Matt and his sister before the ceremony. His sister is wiping her tears.
I know you can't see this too well, but on my 30" screen, you can see the tears in Becky's eyes as she comes down the aisle. I love it!
This image makes me teary when I look at it... there were few that probably heard what Becky's sweet dad said to Matt as he handed her off, but I think his expression says it all.
There was a part in the ceremony when both sets of parents stood up. The officiant continued to read some words that Becky and Matt had written about each other. It was very touching... and obviously caused a few laughs from Matt's parents.
I love this! (also during the ceremony)
You know, the way the groom looks at his bride says everything!
Walking back down the aisle. Chris always says that the walk back down the aisle is a great indicator of just how excited a couple is to be married.
Still walking back down the aisle... :-)
Trillium did the bouquets, while Becky's mom successfully grew the rest of the flowers.
The light was just perfect during and directly after the ceremony. I love this!
Really love the next two, especially since we have a lil flare.
Chris' angle of the same moment. I really love this!!
Remember this jeep from their engagement session? This will be perfect at the end of their album!
I would like to point out that all of my shots were taken with my brand new D700 that I LOVE!!! The last shot was captured at 1600 ISO with my 50mm f/1.4 wide open. This shot was taken at 8pm, so right at dusk when the sun was pretty much down. I LOVE it! No flash!
I love investing in better equipment to give my clients better images.

Sarah and Greg - Whiteface Club & Resort |

F inally, I am posting the preview from last weekend's wedding! (the day before our next one) Sarah and Greg were married at the Whiteface Club & Resort on the most perfect August day. This is one of our favorite places to do a wedding. The setting for the ceremony and cocktail hour could not be more perfect for an outdoor Adirondack wedding. We have not been there since last October (after doing 4 last year), but it was worth the wait. Sarah and Greg were so great to work with, as you will see below. Thanks so much for letting Kristin and myself be a part of your day. Happy viewing!
Kris at Trillium did it again with some beautiful flowers. I love this one of Greg getting his boutonniere put on; it only took 10 minutes! ;-)
Sarah's dress could not have been more perfect for her. I walked in her room to see it with the sun shining through it- perfect!
Getting the shoes on, even though you can't see that part... still love the softness of it. The light was so great in that room!
Bridal portrait next-to that same window. Love it!
I don't usually put our "posed formals" up here, but this was a little more fun than they always are. So, I just had to include it.
Greg's face when Sarah was walking down the aisle. Love it!
Sarah and her dad coming down the aisle. Love it, too!
Kristin's shot of the ceremony through the tent the guests sat under (The Whiteface Club & Resort was prepared for the rain).
Per Sarah's request, we did some jumping shots. haha! I can't decide which one I like better... the girls alone...
... or the whole group?
Needless to say, Sarah was not timid in front of my camera. ;-)
Love the natural smiles... I'm not really that funny; I guess I can just make a few people crack, though.
I think this is my favorite of the day. I love the trolley!! And, it really is the ONLY way to get the guests from the boathouse to the reception.
Another fun trolley shot.
Thanks again! Next week is packed. On top of having MORE guests (my dad and step mom just left and our friends and family will be here non-stop for a few weeks), we have 3 photoshoots and 2 weddings in the next 8 days! So, lots coming on the blog! |

Kristin and Adam at John Brown Farm |

S o, the update from the audit... it is over! (phew!) And the best part is that instead of me owing NY state money (as they thought), they owe ME money because I overpaid some taxes last quarter. ;-) I mean, when does that ever happen? This is one time when an audit was so great to have done!
Anyway, back to posting... last Thursday, I met up with our Studio Manager Kristin and her boyfriend Adam at a very special place to them... John Brown Farm. They went there on their first date almost exactly a year ago, the place where they had their first kiss, and this was the place where Adam first told Kristin that he loves her. So, of course, we HAD to do a little session for them here to celebrate their first year together, even if they aren't engaged... yet! ;-) I had SOOO much fun with them, and I think you guys will really enjoy this post. Happy viewing!
the spot where they had their first kiss. (I should mention how beautiful the day was- only the second dry day of the month and the 13th of the whole summer!)
Love this yummy light!
Kristin and I had quite the time picking out her outfits. I LOVE this dress and her shoes!
Loving flare and sweetness.
Check out how beautiful Kristin is!
And now, check out how fun they are! She has told me many times that they will spend 30 minutes just setting up timers and doing jumping pictures... so, naturally, we HAD to do a few rounds during their session. Love it!
I really love this sweet moment.
Haha! I still laugh at this next one. I asked Adam to kiss her on the neck, and as soon as he did it, he made the comment that they were doing a cover for a romance novel. So, naturally, I changed my perspective to get the "cover" shot for a cheesy romance novel. Yes, I am still laughing at it, as are they!
Here's what I was REALLY going for. ;-)
Yummy Flare + Sweet Love = Favorite Picture
Stay tuned for Sarah & Greg's wedding preview tomorrow!
We are back to work, but our to-do list is long. We are making every effort to get everything moving as quickly as possible. If you are a current client and have your images on a proof gallery already, please, submit your album orders as soon as possible. Your deadline is September 9. (We are having to do tiered holiday deadlines this year since we have so many orders pending and would not otherwise be able to get them all done). |
