Why we love in home newborn sessions
As you look for a Philadelphia newborn photographer, you’ll need to make a very important decision. Do you want to travel to a studio photographer, or do you want your newborn session to take place in the comfort of your own home? Both have their benefits, and in the end it may come down to personal preference, but here are a few reasons why we love in home newborn sessions.
1. You don’t need to go anywhere.
Getting out and about during the first couple of weeks with your newborn can be tough! The weather and traffic can be unpredictable, germs are everywhere (especially during flu season!) and you’re still recovering from giving birth. With an in home session, you don’t need to get in and out of the car, go up and down stairs, worry about arriving on time, or worry about leaving something at home. You also have everything you need to feed, change, and comfort your baby just like you do every day at home. I’ll come to you at the time of your appointment and bring everything we need to make timeless and organic portraits.
2. You can show off the nursery.
You planned the perfect space for your baby, and an in home session is a great way to capture it before it changes. It won’t be long before you’ll be trading the crib for a toddler bed, and changing the theme to that show your kid loves. We get to incorporate the things that are important to you, your family, and this specific time in your baby’s life. Even if you don’t have a fancy nursery or if you have no nursery at all, we can still find a comfortable place in your house with some beautiful window light where you’ll feel relaxed and look amazing.
3. The whole family can join in.
Taking the entire family to a studio session that may take 2-4 hours can be overwhelming to say the least. At home, everyone can feel comfortable and relaxed, and if there are any siblings, grandparents, or a spouse who you want to involve, they can relax at home until we are ready for them. In home sessions are also often called lifestyle sessions because they are great for capturing the way that you live on a day to day basis. Often we find that mothers who come to the studio will decide to skip the photos that include mother and baby because they didn’t have time to get ready. When you’re at home, you can easily get ready for those special portraits that will likely become some of your favorites.
What is the right time to do an in home newborn session?
Traditionally, the best time to do a newborn session is within the first 10 days after birth. However, each case is different, so get in touch as soon as possible so we can discuss scheduling options that work for you and your family.
